Visit These Hidden Gems in Columbia, SC for a Staycation
Ahhh, summer—when the weather warms up, the kids are home from school, and it seems like everybody is buzzing with the potential of an exotic summer road trip. However, you don’t have to leave your hometown to have fun this summer. The team at Dick Dyer Mercedes have found our favorite hidden gems in Columbia, South Carolina, right here in our local community, perfect for a staycation.
Congaree National Park
As one of the least-visited national parks in the country, Congaree is definitely hidden, despite its location right outside of Columbia. With a blackwater swamp and thriving, unusual wildlife, there’s plenty to see here.
Governor’s Mansion Garden
Unlike the South Carolina State House, which gets a fair amount of foot traffic downtown, the Governor’s Mansion is far more hidden away with beautiful, scenic gardens and tours of the interior of the historic building.
Top of Carolina
South Carolina Midlands barbecue is a next-level experience. As a local, I’m sure you knew that—but how about experiencing delicious barbecue in a high-rise, rotating restaurant? Get reservations at Top of Carolina today.
So, Ernest isn’t a place, but a person. More specifically, he’s known as the “Chicken Man.” Look for his trailer parked on the side of the road on Gervais Street near Millwood Avenue with dozens of colorful chickens to buy some art from him.
