What Happened at the 2017 NAIAS?
With the slump in the auto industry a few years back, the North American International Auto Show lost some of its luster. However, as the economy continues to recover, the show has made something of a comeback in recent years. In fact, the 2017 NAIAS had plenty to offer. These are the highlights.
The car that generated perhaps the most buzz out of everything at the 2017 NAIAS was the Volkswagen I.D. Buzz. A concept car based on the old Type 2 Microbus, the I.D. Buzz is a fully autonomous car. The steering wheel retracts into the dashboard, and the driver can turn around to talk with the passengers.
While the I.D. generated the most conversation, Mercedes was no slouch. Featuring its new GLA, Mercedes showed the world that the automaker is on the forefront of innovation in the automotive world. This year’s model features an extended range of engine options and a revamped interior and exterior. It also features much of the intelligence that makes the E-Class family so special.
This 2017 NAIAS was a renaissance of sorts for the automotive industry, and there were plenty of incredible concept cars and new releases.
